Coaching and Mentoring

For busy leaders of both small and large organizations, we offer coaching and mentoring in leadership, management, interaction skills and communication.

How does coaching work?

Typically, the work begins with discovering which areas the individual and his or her supervisor think need development. If desired, an assessment such as DISC or Myers-Briggs is administered. Then a proposed topic list and timeline are agreed on, along with goals and measurable outcomes.

We meet with the "coachee" once or twice monthly, in person when possible, by phone if not, addressing a different issue each time and focusing on strategies for development. Each session ends with a homework application assignment, which is then discussed at the next session. Interim reports to the person's supervisor are submitted and input invited along the way.

 
How successful is coaching?

Individual coaching and mentoring tend to have a high success rate as long as several factors are present:

-  Complete confidentiality
-  Customized scheduling and materials
-  Positive focus, building on the individual's key strengths
-  Follow-up and progress checks

The most essential predictor for success, however, lies in the motivation and interest of the coached individual. Working in collaborative partnership with a supportive consultant/coach creates its own reward, and both the individual and his/her organization are the ultimate beneficiaries.
